I want to help people. I want them to know I went through the fire so they don't have to. I want them to collapse time by learning from my brilliant and appalling decisions and choices. But there is a selfish part to this - I want them to be able to converse with me with the same knowledge and experiences so we can talk forever and challenge each other to be better. Talking to myself is boring now, and I need new recruits. And since I am having a hard time finding people who will talk to me and challenge me, I figured I might as well create them. The problem now is that many don't want to come along at the expense of hard work, discomfort, or discipline.
Here is one thing about two things I have come to discover...
Growth isn't a spectator sport. You can't simply binge-watch other people's missteps and victories like a series and expect transformation to land in your lap.
Transformation over evolution. True progress demands that you sit with the tension and willingly step onto the path of inconvenience. Slow tweaks are fine—but sometimes you need a radical pivot, not a gentle nudge. That's the same path I walked—sometimes kicking and screaming, sometimes with my eyes closed—but always moving forward.
That's the unglamorous grind—and I'm inviting you in anyway.
This is where I will lose a few people when I say this: there is joy in sweating and having a tough time figuring something out. There is peace in knowing you sincerely tried your best, and it still turned out poorly or was a masterpiece - your best yet.
Maybe I am a junkie for personal growth and putting myself in situations that make me utterly uncomfortable just so I can test my so-called growth and limitations. Am I alone? If there is a club for that, someone let me know.
So, where is this post going? Ah, yes, I am looking for recruits — people who want to transform, not evolve. People who are willing to invest in themselves the same way they are willing to pay for that vacation and be a gadget. Those who see discomfort and growth as synonyms. Those who will reach out to someone to help them through their current seasons so they can be better equipped for future endeavors.
To you who are tired of surface-level growth, or know someone who is, come find me. We have lots to chat about.
